Trusted partners

The companies RISE recommends to clients — vetted, named, and accountable. Selected for product quality, technical competence, and a track record of delivering for flooded homeowners.

There are many companies selling flood-related products, services, and advisory across the UK. RISE has worked with, observed, or been approached by a significant number of them, and the experience has not always been good. This is a category where products are sometimes misrepresented and installations are sometimes done badly. Aftercare often disappears when problems arise. Some companies dissolve and reopen under new names to avoid accountability for what they sold previously. RISE has reported a supplier to Trading Standards.

The companies on this page are the small group whose work, ethics, and accountability stood up under scrutiny — over years, on real cases, including the founder's own. Inclusion on this list is not for sale. Listed partners contribute commercially to RISE on terms set out in our terms of use, but commercial contribution alone does not qualify a company for a listing. The list is short because the bar is high.

Specified Partners

Suppliers whose products RISE specifies by name in scopes of work, technical briefs, and rebuild specifications. These are the products RISE knows by their performance characteristics and trusts under the standards RISE works to (BS 85500:2025 and Ciria C790).

Delta Membranes

Cavity drain membranes & tanking systems

Delta is the UK market leader in cavity drain membrane systems for damp control and structural waterproofing. Their products were specified throughout the rebuild that informed RISE's founding methodology, and their technical team is among the most knowledgeable on flood-resilient construction in the country.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: Several competing membrane manufacturers were assessed during the rebuild specification process. Delta's combination of proven product performance under post-flood conditions, named technical specialists available for specification queries, and full BS 85500:2025-compliant detailing support put them above the rest. Their guarantees stood up to scrutiny; the alternatives' did not.

Vetted Trades & Site Professionals

When you are in the middle of a flood recovery, you do not have the time, the energy, or the technical knowledge to vet six different tradespeople and decide who is going to do the job properly. RISE's founder has already done that work — on his own rebuild, in real conditions, with the consequences landing at his own front door. The companies listed below were tested, watched, and selected on the basis of what they actually delivered. Surveyors, builders, ground workers, tankers, tilers, electricians, and bespoke joiners — the right person for the right part of the job.

Shield Waterproofing and Preservation Ltd

Waterproofing, tanking & flood resilience contractor

Shield Waterproofing and Preservation Ltd is an independent specialist contractor with over 30 years of experience in basement waterproofing, damp proofing, structural repairs, timber preservation, and flood resilience work. Their surveyors hold CSRT and CSSW accreditations. The company is a Property Care Association member and an approved installer of Delta Membranes products. Shield delivered the tanking and waterproofing installation on RISE's founder's own second rebuild — across the full ground-floor envelope, with continuity-of-detail evidence captured throughout the build.

A note on guarantees. Shield provided RISE's founder with a 30-year written guarantee on the tanking installation. That was the result of a comprehensive, belt-and-braces specification — full waterproofing system, integrated drainage, sump and pump system, whole-property solar battery backup providing power resilience during grid outages, and every junction and penetration detailed and signed off in writing. The guarantee length reflected the rigour of the scope, not a generic offer. Every client's recovery is different. A simple DPM replacement and a fully integrated waterproofing system are not the same job, and they do not attract the same guarantee. What RISE will do is help you understand what scope of work produces what level of guarantee — so the decision you make is informed.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: Installation seen at every stage of the founder's own rebuild. Quality of detailing — particularly at wall-floor junctions and around pipe penetrations — was the difference between the failed first remediation and the successful second one. Combined with the PCA membership, the CSSW/CSRT-accredited surveying capability, and the strength of the Shield Preservation Guarantee (backed by optional CGS insurance), Shield sits on this page on the strength of demonstrated work, not marketing claim.

Building surveying & site assessment

The surveyor engaged on RISE's second rebuild. Provided independent site assessments, scope review, and milestone sign-offs during the project, working alongside RISE's founder rather than for the insurer.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: A surveyor whose loyalty is to the homeowner is harder to find than one whose fee is paid by the insurer. The technical detail and the written reporting were of a standard that stood up to scrutiny when it mattered.

General building contractor

The principal contractor engaged on RISE's second rebuild. Delivered the build-out under a documented programme of works, with phased moisture barrier installation, named specified products, coordinated trades, and structured handover.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: A builder who will work to a published specification, accept staged inspection, and sign off each phase before the next begins is rarer than the industry pretends. This one did.

Ground works & external drainage

The ground works contractor engaged on RISE's second rebuild. Handled the external drainage diversions, the regrading of external levels away from the property, and the integration of the surface water management system.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: External ground levels and drainage are the single most under-specified area of most flood rebuilds. Getting them right requires a ground worker who understands hydrology, not just paving. This one does.

Bespoke joinery & custom oak woodwork

The joiner engaged on RISE's second rebuild for bespoke internal joinery and custom oak woodwork. Delivered fitted pieces designed to specification, with consideration for moisture management and the post-flood internal environment.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: Quality bespoke joinery delivered on time, on specification, and with finish standards that justify the spend on solid oak rather than veneer.

Domestic & flood-resilient electrical

The electrician engaged on RISE's second rebuild. Delivered a full rewire to flood-resilient specification — raised sockets, repositioned consumer unit, separated circuits, and integration with the whole-property solar battery system.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: An electrician who understands flood-resilient specification, not just standard domestic wiring, is a different competence. NICEIC-registered, full certification, willing to engage with non-standard installations.

Wet-zone tiling & waterproof substrate

The tiler engaged on RISE's second rebuild. Delivered the tiled finishes across all ground-floor wet zones, working over the tanking installation with proper substrate preparation and decoupling.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: Most tilers can lay a level floor. Far fewer understand the relationship between tanking, substrate, decoupling, and tile choice in a post-flood environment. This one does.

Independent Experts & Forensic Consultants

Some flood recoveries become disputes. Many require independent evidence of what caused the problem in the first place before the right remediation can be specified. When the question moves from “how do we fix it” to “how do we prove what happened, and what specifically needs to be done about it,” the right answer is an independent chartered expert whose only product is precise technical opinion. RISE works with consultants whose written assessments stand up to scrutiny by insurers, surveyors, ombudsman cases, and where matters escalate, formal legal processes. These are the experts you bring in when the documentation has to be unimpeachable.

Steve Hodgson FCABE, CSTDB, CSSW

Independent chartered building consultant

Steve Hodgson is a chartered building consultant specialising in damp, waterproofing, and structural moisture issues. He produces forensic-grade written assessments on the cause of building failures, the adequacy of remediation works, and the technical specifications required to put a property right. His reports are commissioned by insurers, loss adjusters, surveyors, and increasingly by homeowners and their advisors directly. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, a Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW), and Property Care Association member 8000.

Why RISE recommends him over alternatives: Steve was the independent chartered expert appointed by the insurer's own loss adjusters on RISE's founder's second flood. His December 2024 report identified the cause of the failure of the original remediation in unambiguous technical terms — the kind of report that closes arguments rather than starts them. When the question on your case is “what actually happened, and what specifically is required to fix it,” there is no substitute for a chartered consultant of Steve's credentials and independence.

Preferred Brokers

Insurance brokers who understand flood-affected properties and Flood Re-affiliated policies. Brokers RISE engages on a client's behalf for pre-flood policy reviews, Build Back Better participation queries, and placement of cover on non-standard cases.

Magenta Insurance

Flood Re-affiliated household insurance broker

Magenta is a Flood Re-affiliated broker with direct experience placing cover for flood-affected and flood-risk properties across the home counties. RISE's founder was a Magenta client during the second flood claim, and the broker relationship is built on that history of working through a real case together.

Why RISE recommends them over alternatives: Many household insurance brokers will quote a Flood Re-affiliated policy. Far fewer will actively engage with the complications — non-standard cases, Build Back Better participation queries, broker-sourced vs. direct-sold cover. Magenta does the work. The named broker contact returns calls. RISE's founder tested several brokers before settling on the one still on this page.

What RISE will not do

The standards behind every listing on this page, stated openly because most companies in this category will not.

These standards are not for show. They have cost RISE potential partnership revenue, and they will continue to. They are the price of being a list a flooded homeowner can trust.
